Bainbridge

Dr. Lesley Bainbridge is Associate Principal of the College of Health Disciplines and Associate Professor, Department of Physical Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC.  Her areas of special interest are interprofessional health education (IPE), collaborative practice, leadership, evaluation of IPE, curriculum development related to IPE, interprofessional practice education and other areas related to IPE such as rural health and underserved populations.  Her interest in the CPCHES initiative is grounded in her passion for, and commitment to, collaborative learning, research and practice. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller  Email: lesleyb@mail.ubc.ca.

Butler

Dr. Deborah L. Butler is Professor of Educational Psychology and Special Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia.   She is also a scholar at the Centre for Health Education and Scholarship.  Her research advances understanding about strategic, self-regulated engagement in learning and practice, professional development processes, knowledge mobilization, inclusive and special education, and case study research methodology.  Her commitment to the CPCHES initiative is grounded in her scholarly work on the promise of collaborative learning teams as a model for advancing educational scholarship and practice.  Email: deborah.butler@ubc.ca

Fielding

Dr. David Fielding is a Professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC.  His research interests have been related to programme evaluation and learning assessment. Initially, his research focused on evaluating the design and implementation of continuing professional education programmes and their impact on practice behaviours. His recent work involves a number of collaborations to evaluate the impact, qualities, and outcomes of the undergraduate pharmacy education programme at UBC. He is also investigating best practices and principles for learning assessment and exploring how to harness the power of assessment to promote learning.  He sees the CPCHES initiative as a chance to share a common interest and commitment to scholarship related to health professions education, thus providing additional opportunities for new collaborations, perspectives, concepts and research approaches. Regehr

Dr. Glenn Regehr is at UBC as senior scientist and Associate Director at the Faculty of Medicine Centre for Health Education Scholarship.  He is also Professor in the Department of Surgery and holds a cross appointment with the UBC Faculty of Education.  Through his research, Dr. Regehr seeks to improve the understanding and assessment of a range of competencies (e.g., communication, professionalism, collaboration, self-assessment) in an effort to increase their relevance to daily practice among healthcare professionals.  His interest in the CPCHES initiative is fuelled by his belief that bringing multiple perspectives to bear on the common problems of health professions education will improve the education practices in each profession.  Email: Email: glenn.regehr@ubc.ca

O'Flynn Magee

Kathy O’Flynn Magee is a Senior Instructor and Associate Director, Undergraduate Program in the School of Nursing at UBC.  Her special interests are within teaching scholarship, educational leadership and curriculum development.  Her interest in the CPCHES initiative is grounded in her commitment to supporting students’ learning and experiences at UBC, her enthusiasm to engage in dialogue about teaching and learning, and her belief in the importance of cross professional collaboration.  Email: Email: kathy.oflynnmagee@nursing.ubc.ca

Pearson

Marion Pearson is the Director of the Entry-to-Practice Program in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. Marion’s approach to teaching emphasizes the development of practical knowledge and skills through learning in an interactive, collegial environment. Her current research interests include curricular integration, narrative pedagogy, and program evaluation. Dr.HsingChi von Bergmann is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC. In this role, she mentors and conducts educational research, designs modules and professional development activities to enhance teaching capacity and educational experiences for students in the faculty. Her research foci include curriculum, instruction and assessment, problem-based learning, teacher beliefs and conceptions, and opportunities to learn.
